One of the earliest texts I published here dates back to 2019 and is titled The Risk of Large Projects. In it, I argued that large-scale automation projects are inherently risky and often fail to deliver the expected returns—and I explored the underlying reasons why.
I recently revised and updated the text, and have now also recorded it as a podcast episode. You can find the audio-only version on YouTube below.
As always, your comments and feedback are very welcome.
PS: In the meanwhile, I learned that Bent Flyvbjerg is the authority on this topic. I wrote the original text not knowing that he has published a number of papers and book on this topic.
